Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: “It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

“These kinds of products being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their security.

“You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health.”
